IMPOETANT FEENGH-PROPOSAL, By Telegraph—Press ABSoelallon-Copyriclil Paris, December 25, The Government has proposed in tho Chamber oif Deputies that a subsidy of twenty millions sterling, to bo spread over a poriod of 25 years, shall bo paid to the Messageries Maritimes Company and the Societe d'Etudes de Navigation •for mail and other services in the Far East, Australia, East Africa, Brazil, and the Biver Plate. The bulk of the.subsidy is to be devoted to the construction of ninetoenknot steamers, convertible into auxiliary cruisers. . ' ' ' ■
