A rather loudly-drcssetl "gentleman" stepped into a big necktie shop, and in an imperious tone uttered the one word; "Neckties!" Then ho threw back his head, as if tho assistant were entirely beneath nis notice. This snobbish air aggravated the assistant, but he quietly displayed a number ol late patterns. "These," he s:\id v«ry politely, "are the very newest style, and are .excellent qtuuity'at a shilling." , ~ "A shilling," haughtily snapped tho customer, "a shilling! l)o 1 look like a man who would wear a shilling Is there anything about nio to indicate that?" . "Jieg pardon. *ir! meekly interposed the assistant. "The sixpenny counter is at the other end of tho-shop!"
