o SEDUCTION ON WOOL. URGED. By Telecraoh—Press AGSoniation-Oopyrlght Now York, December 20. ■ President Taft has dispatched to Congress a special message, covering the report of .the- Tariff Board on Schedule K (tho wool schedule) of the Payne Tariff ;'ct. Air. Taft recommends a reduction in tho rates on wools and woollen?. Tho report shows that tho existing duties on many classes of wool manufactures arc prohibitive, and groally in excess of tho difference between the cost of production ir. tho United Stales and abroad. Tho duties aro so arranged as to keep out of tho United States entirely tho finer quality wool, which, if imported, would be used in preference to the stmTs now utilised. Mr. Taft urges prompt action. (Rec. December 22, 0.15 a.m.) Washington, December 21. Congress will consider the tariff legislation after Christmas, though the Democratic leaders say tho measuro will not bo ready to report upon for somo weeks.
