The. yarding .of fat lambs was a, heavy one for the" time of year. ibtalUujr 326*), and the quality, was-,exceptionally good. Id addition, to the'consignments from the near farms on the. plains there .were large numbers from North Canterbury, and especially from Cheviot and Oraihi disj tricts. There was. a- keen demand, both. for local consumption and export, and j prices for prime lambs were even, better than .the week before. The best lambs ranged from 15s. to 195., and .liclitcr, 12s. 3d. to 14s. 9d. The yarding of fat. sheep was'a. large one. and consisted largely of owe?,, with some good lines of wethers. The ?alc opened a bit, slack, but afterwards improved,and last week's prices for wethers were fairly well* maintained, but ewe? wers easier in consequence of th'e large supply. An outside buyer tyas operating, but. no' business was done k for export. The rangeof prices wa-s:—Prime wethere, 17s. 6d. to 225. 6d.: wethers, 14s; 9d. to 1 l?s;; prime ewes, 15s. to 17s. 6d.s others. -10s. 9d. .to 14s. 6d.; merino wethers, 15?. 6d. The yarding of fat cattle totalled 412, and included' a large proportion of North Island lines. The sale was a. very dragging'one,' and prices fell to the extent of 3s. 6d. per 1001b. for steer, beef, the supply being considerably beyond requirements. The range of values was 255. to 28s. per •1001b. Steers made' £8 15s. to £12.1D5.; ! heifers, £5 176. 6d. to £11 10s".; and cows £4 ss. to '£9 7s. 6d.; veal calves, 3s. fid. to 665.
