Wedding in St. Peter's, ' A pretty wedding took " place in St. Peters Church in Ghiizneo Street ou' December . 14, when Mr. Albert Drvden, of Wellington, eldest son of Mrs. O'iiullivau, Marton, was married to Miss Alico Pettengelt, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Pettengcll, of Brooklyn. The ceremony was performed by the Kev. Mr. Hobday. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of cream crepo de chine, trimmed with silk allover lace, and veil and wreath of orange blossoms. The bridesmaid, Miss Elsie Pcttengell, sister of the bride, woro a cream voile frock trimmed with cream lace, and a pretty crinoline straw hat wreathed with lilies of the valley. Both ljndo and bridesmaid carried bouquets of cream roses and asparagus fern. Mr. P. Dryden, of Gisborne, was the best man. Airs. Pettengell and Mrs. Dryden both ; woro black frocks,' relieved with cream silk trimming, and .black hats to match. A reception was subsequently held in ' Godber's rooms, in Cuba Street, about <0 guests being present. Honouring a Secretary. .Yesterday afternoon the Women's Social and l'olitical League entertained its secretary, Mrs. Moore, at "The Tiffin," Jlnmiers street. Tim rooms were tnstelufly decorated in crimson and gold, the colours of tho league. Mrs. Moore .the guest of the afternoon, wore a handsome black brocade with Irish lace coat, and black hat with p nines. I.ady Ward, president,.'was in a black revet costume, and.black hat with whito plumes- Mrs. Keay-lirown, vicepresident, - black satin frock, jet trimmings; Mrs. Dsdwoil, vice-president, pow-der-blue costume; Miss G. Early on Monday morning the death took place of Mrs. John "Hessev," the vile ot Mr. John Hessev, a greatlv-res-' pected resident of Maste'rton."
