A conference of coalmincrs has been held with reference to tho minimum-wage question. It is understood that tho'men modified their proposals, and are prepared to discuss moans of ensuring that a fair day's work shall be given. The new situation has been referred to tho districts for consideration. Tho outlook is hopeful.
