TELEGRAMS TO MINISTERS. (By Telcerauh.—Snccial CorrcH'ondcnU Hastings, December 13. Regarding the Hastings district petition, asking the Government lo mako full inquiry ioto tho available, routes for the East Const railway before deciding on thn Petano beach, tho following wires have lx>en dispatched to Sir Joseph Ward and the Hon. Roderick M'Kenzio by the promoters of the petition:— "Sir Joseph Ward,' Wellington.— When and where can yourself and Minister for Public Works receive peHtiou re East Coast railway route? Pleas© wire reply," "Roderick M'Kenzio, Minister for Public Works, Wellinglon.-'Horald' representative publishes interview with you, in which ho- alleges yon indicate, route Wellington-Gjsbo'riic railway settled as along Petano beach and Esk Valley, in face of telegrams from Sir Joseph Ward and yourself re our petition. Surely this is incorrect. Please wire reply. Also slate when and whern Sir Joseph Ward and yourself can receive deputation with petition." Both telegrams are signcl by .Messrs. H. A. Mossniau, W. J.
