AMALGAMATION?
} MIRAMAR AND THE CITY.' The Miramar Borough. Council is to bo informed, in reply to further representations on the subject of tho terms on which the city cars would run over the borough lines if the motive power were supplied by the borough, that tho Wellingon City Council is of opinion that "the first question to be discussed in (his connection is the question of the amalgamation of tho Miramar borough with the city." The Mayor, explaining to tho City Council last aiight the purport of the above clause as it came from the Tramways Committee, said that tho reasou which prompted the committee to_ reject the Miramar proposal was that it would Im> unwiso for tho city to encourage such a heavy expenditure by the borough. Amalgamation was sure to come sooner or later, and'it would not be good business for the oily to have to purchase from the borough expensive works which would bo of no value as part of the city Irani system.
