LECTURE BY MR. TREVETHICK. Apart from its principal function of organising periodical 'flower shows, til# Wellington Rose and Carnation Club ha» of lato undertaken the organisation of occasional meetings at which its mombera aro instructed in the best methods ol cultivating flowers and preparing them for display on show tables. A meeting of this character, held at Godber's room* in Cuba Street last evening, was well attended bv memliers of the club, I)r. Arnold Izard (president) introduced tho lecturers of the evening, Mr. C. Trevothick, of Lower Hutt, who had chosen as his topic "The Sweet Pea: How to grow it and how to show it." . Mr. Trevethick had brought with him a beautiful array of sweet poas m many colours, and of numerous varieties. Considering the weather that has ruled oi late the condition and beauty of th« blooms represented a. triumph of gardening skill. Mr. Trevcthick's lccturette wa* followed with close attention, and somo of those who listened will no doubt derive practical profit from the instruction in preparing for the summer show, which is to bo held in the Town Hall on Decembcr 27. At the end of tho evening Air. Trevethick was heartilv thanked by Dr. Izard on behalf of tho assembled members of tho club.
