ROSS GOLDFIELDS. . NEW BOARD OF DIKECTOKS. An extraordinary meeting of the Boss GoldGclds Reconstructed, Ltd., 'was he:d yesterday to,coneider the resignations of the directors, and to appoint a new board; also to discuss the finances and general business of the company. Dr. 0. -P. Knight presided, and there, were sixteen shareholders present. A report was- presented and 'adopted on the motion of -Mr. Davis, seconded by Mr. Smyth. The chairman explained at some length how he came to be appointed a director at a incetinp at which he was not present, and- without his having been consulted. He did not wish to accept (Office, but, with his co-director (.Mr. Walter Nathan), did not refuse to accept as the action might have damaged the company in the eyes of tho public. The directors wore small shareholders, but had bought and sold 110 shares.' 11" was grateful to Mossrs. Fethcrir-k and Davis for their kindness in taking the action which they had taken. Subseouently the chairman said that, if .Mr. Davis had asked the directors to resign instead of Mr. I'ctherick tho position might have been very different. As a matter of fact the directors could not resign at the time, because one of the co-directors was in Australia. Mr. Walter Nathan stated, that, as a business man, he took the same view as Dr. Knight. During his term of office he had given as much attention to the affairs of the company as to his own business. Ho held 850 shares, of which* 150 had cost him 17s. each, 200 at lCs.. and 500 at Ids. 3d., and ho had an opportunity to sell out at £1.
Mr. Davis, representing 14,000 shares, said that those whom he represented looked to him to carry out their vnshes. The only point at issue was one of policyhe had preat faith in the mine, lie could not see the force of scrapping the present cloctrical plant, and puttin? in steam. After discussion, it was decided to appoint Messrs. G. F. Davis, W. B. Wilson, J. C. Colbeek (Auckland), and H. M. Smvth (Hokitika) to act until the annual meeting in January. It was recommended that a fifth director, preferably a Wellington shareholder, should be appointed.
