Rice, who is one of tho four members' of tho Australasian team for tho Davis Cup mutch, arrived in Christchurch to-day. Dunlop, tho remaining mninber. is expected hero next Tuesday morning bv the Maheno. E. M. Kidston, who lias been selected to practise with the Australasian team, camo over from Sydney with Rico. ' J. C. Peacock, New Zealand champion, camo down from Wellington this morning with tho view of practising for the New Zealand championships. Brookes and Heath, of the Australasian team, are putting in regular practico on Mr. W. Goss's courts at Merivole and, on the .United Club's courts in Haglcy Park, Lamed, Beals, Wright, and M'Loughlin, the Americans, are practising steadily on the courts prepared for their use at Sunnyside. Applications for reserved seats have been received from various parts of New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, Townsville, Rockhampton, and Adelaide, and from all parts of New Zealand from Auckland to tho Bluff, and it is evident that the gathering of tennis enthusiasts in Christchurch during the coming holidays will be vory representative. Sir Joseph Ward and Lady Ward have intimated their intention of boing present.
