MARIST BROTHERS' SCHOOL. There was quite a pleasant little gathering at the annual prize-giving in connection the Thorndon Marist Brothers' School, Goring ' Street, yesterday afternoon: In presenting his annual report, Brother Virgilius traced tho movement from Boulcott Street to Thorndon, and stated that now they we-io within full view of tho promised land—a new school. Jlr. Bakewell, the Education Board's inspector, had visited the rclicol last May, and in his report had expressed himself as satisfied with tho work beinjT done. In November Mr. Bakewell kid examined the Sixth Standard passing eleven out of thirteen. The' religious traininß of the boys had been attended to by the Rev. Father People, the sclmil chaplain, and evra-y boy in the school had made his fir c t communion. Physical drill had received attention through tho medium of the Corps, which had met tho approval of tho drill inspector. Tho clergy, and in particular Fathers JTickson and Peoples, ivero' thanked for the interest they took in the schools, and n i!cbt of gratitude -was expressed to the Indies or the parish, who had placed thorn in a position to present prizes.
