WELLINGTON DISTRICT. , The official recount of votes cast in' the Wellington North election was completed last evening. Tho Returning Officer (Mr. ■A. N. Holmes) and his staff have had a heavy task, for they have handled no fewer that 53,000 voting and ballot papers. This total includes the licensing papers for the Wellington North, Central, and East electorates, as well as the electoral ballot papers for Wellington North. The licensing papers for tho districts named are now ready for the scrutiny which is to be carried out by Mr.-E. B. Nation on behalf of tho.liconsed victuallers, and by tho Rev. J. Dawson, representing tho No-Licenso party. Following are tho returns of absent votors' votes and seamen's votes cast in the licensing polls in tho three districts named:— Wellington North. Seamen: Continuance, 7; Nor License, 2. National Prohibition: Against, 7; for, 2. Absent Voters: Continuance, 84; NoLicense, 85; total, 169. Informal, 4. National Prohibition: Against, 81; for, 89; total, 170. Informal, 3. Wellington East. Seamen: Continuance, 9; No-License, 5; total, 14. National Prohibition: Against, 9; for, 5; total, 14. Absent Voters: Continuance, 39; NoLicense, 7S; total, 117. Informal; 8;' National Prohibition: Against, 34; for, 85.; total, 119. Informal, i. Wellington Central. ..'' An official recount of the votes cast in tho Christchurch East contest has now been made, with the result that Mr. Davey, Government candidate, will contest the second ballot with Mr. Thacker, Independent Liberal, who topped tho poll. CHRISTG'nURCH EAST. Christchurch, December 12. Seven additional absent voters' papers have been received for East Christchurch to-day. Davey received five, Hunter one, and ono was informal. Tho final figures are: Thacker, 2492; Davev, 23(10: Hunter, 23f)G; Cooke, 418; informal, 103.' This leaves Thacker and Davev in the second ballot.
