PAHIATUA.

A MINISTER ELECTIONEERING. (Bt TcleeiODh—Press Association.) Pahiatua, December 12. The lion. T. Mackenzie' delivered an address at Pahiatua last night in support of the candidature of Mr. A. B. Ros.s the Ministerial candidate. Mr. Mackenzie dealt with the charges against the Administration and tho work of the Agricultural Department. At the conclusion a vote of thanks and confidence m the Ministry was declared carried. There was a considerable volume of dissent and it was difficult to tell how many voted for and how many against the motion, hut probably the' majority _of those who voted were in favour of it. Tho Minister called for cheers for Mt. Ross, and again there was a mixed response.

One thing is practically certain, and that is that the Ward Government will bo unable to carry on (says the "Pahiatua Herald"). Under these circumstances we think the electors who have a right to vote in the second ballots will consider it thoir duty to give the Reform party a working majority, so that a stable Administration may be formed, and the public Departments thoroughly overhauled and the affairs of tho Dominion placed on a sound basis. That is now the ideal to be aimed at, and wo believe that many hundreds of electors who have till now voted for the Ward party will recognise that that party is doomed, and will transfer tlieir votes to the Reform parly, so that it may have a working majority, and the evils a(: tendant on a .political impasse may be avoided. The position is that the Ward party cannot carry on, and the country ought to sec that the Reform' parly has a sufficient majority to make another I anneal' to tho countrj .oimcoeaarj
