A conference between tho Newcastle Colliery proprietors, the shipping firms, and the Coal Trimmers' Union has been ■arranged from January 1. Trimmers' wages aro to be Is. 9d. per hour in the daytime, and 2s. for night work, excepting on Saturday when the rato will bo 2s. Id. between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., and 4s. an hour after 6 p.m.
