SETTLERS WANT AX INQUIRY.

A meeting was held at Awakino (o consider the lnnttor of the Mokau land transaction. Mr. Irednlo was voted to the chair, and most of the settlers of the Jlokau and Awakino district wero present. '

(i) That Mr. M'Nob's statement that the land had not been handed to the company at ss. lOd. per acre was a distortion of (act, <is Mr. Jl'Nab was. awaro that the lond had been handed to a private speculator at that price, and resold to tho company at a profit immediately.
