EASTBOURNE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Eastbourne Borough Council was held on Saturday evening, those present being: the Mayor (Mr. Jl. W. Shortt), Councillors Button,'Harcourt, Morris, Organ, l'ilcher, Ross, and Wills. It was resolved (o confirm the offer and acceptance of foreshore to Dr. Mackenzie's land, the Town Clerk to arrange for completion of transfer. The letter concerning Mr. Mantell's foreshore was referred to (lie Public Works Committee.

Mr. Don's application for permission to erect a boatshed was not granted. The question of setting apart areas for boatsheds was referred to tho Public Works Committee.

After further discussion of Councillor Button's motion for the purchase of busli land of 10 acres as a public park, tho final decision was again postponed, pending the result of further negotiations. {several minor -maintenance, works ivcro ordered to bo carried out. The Town Clerk was directed to prosecute anyone found taking soil from any public street. Tho Mayor reported the result of an interview with tho directors of the Ferry Company. An extra late, boat from town is to bo run on Monday nights. The special faro hitherto charged passengers returning to town by the 7 p.m. boat is to be discontinued.

Tho Mayor expressed good wishes to the councillors for Christmas and XenYear. These wishes were heartily reciprocated.

Belhnne and Co. announce in our auction columns that (odaj, at 2.M p.m.. under instructions from the mortgagee, they are submitting iwo well-situated, five-roomed dwellings in Mortimer Terrace. These are Xos. il Mortimer Terrace, containing five rooms and bathroom, with front and side verandah, and large basoment, on land having a frontage of 35ft. 7in.; and No. 76 Mortimer Terrace, containing five rooms, with bathroom and front verandah, on hind 50 by 92ft., having an entrance Lift, wide from Mortimer , Terrace.
