Lord Morley, Lord President of the Council, replying ir. the House of Lords to Lord Curzon. respecting the- situation in Persia, said the- Imperial Government's policy was to maintain the AngloEussian Convention, and mediate benevolently. If Britain and Russia kept together he believed they would sooa seo a solution of the difficulty. Russia had no intention of supporting the ex-Shah, and Sir Edward Grey, British Foreign Secrotary, had warned Persia that it would bo irapossiblo for Britain in any circumstances to recognise him. (Eec. December 10, 5.5 p.m.) New York, December 9. Persia has appealed to the- Government to intervene diplomatically between Persia and Hussia.
