« (By TeJesrraDh.—Press Association.) Christchurch, December 9. 'A seven-roomed residence, occupied by W>. Arthur M'Cnrthv, Chaucer Road, was totally destroyed by firo early this morning. Indications point to "a defective chimney being tho cause. The building waa insured for £\()0 in the Sun office, and the furniture for .£2OO in the Royal. There was also an additional iusurnnco of .£3O on tho house in the Royal. Wanganui, December in. A six-roomed house, owned by Mr. Charles Drew, of New Plymouth, and ticcupieil by Air. Krncst Jeffarca, was deBlroyod by fire tin's morning. The furniture was insured for £W, but information as to the insurance on the building is not available.
