AUSTRALIA AND CANADA. Br Tolecraph—Press Association—Oopyrlehl ' (Eec. Decomber 8, 1.20 a.m.) Melbourno, December 7. ■ Mr. Fisher stated that ho was surprised at the Canadian cablegram stating that Australia had turned Heciprocity down. He said -Australia :had turned nothing down, and thore was neither, conflict nor antagonism. The Minister for Customs wag. inquiring on behalf of tho Government with a view to arranging a reciprocal tariff with Canada and New Zealand, and intended to open negotiations during the/recess. Much will depend on the steamer and mail servioee.
