A stop-valve burst, and immediately the stokehold, in which were tho third engineer and five coolie firemen, was filled with steam from the three boilers. As sncedily as possible assistance wn.s rendered, but the victims were beyond hope. The six bodies when recovered were terribly scolded. They were buried nt sea. T'lavel, the third engineer, was a native of Glasgow.
