Francis Henry Page, William Heury Glondining, and Frederick Marshall (an ex-solicitor) were charged at Bow Street Police Court with blackmailing the Comtesse Hamil Demanin of .£SOO, the money being obtained under tkrent that certain letters would bo published to her annoy, ance. The letters were by a Dan O'Connor (lato of Sydney) and ouo Dobbie.
It -was stated in court that tbo lottors were not in the least improper, but (hat the Conitosso Demanin ivas a nervous old lady,
