NEW HEBRIDES SITUATION.
By Telezraph—Press Association—Coprriehl
Sydney, December 5. Tho "Sydney Morning Herald," commenting ou the New Hebrides situation, says:—"Tho present arrangement between Great Britain and France cannot last very long. Wo cannot expect the Mother Country to negotiate with the idea that slio is to bear all the burden possible in exchange for territory, or monetary compensation in the. event of a cash settlement. Any statesmanlike handling of tho thorny question -will appeal to tho Commonwealth, and a reasonable claim for substantial financial help will be accepted and endorsed without haggling or regret."
