LIVELY TIMES. DISORDERLY SCENES IN N.S.W. STATE ASSEMBLY. CAT-CALLS AND GENERAL HOWLING. (Rec. December 5, 9.25 p.m.) Sydney, December 5. A violent scene occurred in tho Stato Assembly when Mr. Wood, who was suspended a few weeks ago, took his seat. Immediately the Speaker entered, Mr. Wade (Leader of tho Opposition) toso and said that Mr. Wood desired to mako an apology.

Tho Speaker declared that Mr. Wood was no longer a member of tho House, but a stranger, and could speak only from tho bar of tho House.

Mr. Wood indignantly proclaimed that he was there representing his constituents, and would claim the right as a member to say what he had to say.

The Speaker, amid disorder, said that if Mr. Wood did not obey the Chair he would be expelled from the Chamber.

Mr. Wood replied heatedly that ho would not go out.

The Speaker ordered tbo Scrgcant-at-Arms to remove Mr. Wood, who Tcfused to go, and continued addressing the Chair and waving his arms wildly.

The Jlouso was in a state of uproar. Oppositionists howled and hooted and screamed out frenzied protests at what they termed the scandalous treatment of their colleague, amidst a terrific din.

A policeman broken through tho throng and seized Mr. Wood. Mr. Cohen and other members rallied round, and three more- police joined in tho riot. Presently the police emerged from the seething throng carrying Mr. Wood by the r.rins ond legs, and doposited him in the lobby, amidst cat-ca!ls and general howling. Mr. Cohen -was next removed, and tho Speaker then intimated that Mr. Wood could make his apology at the bar of tho House.

This statement was greeted with further uproar, and Mr. Millard, Dr. Arthur Moxhnin, and Colonel Onslow were remorcd. After a few others were called to order the depleted House proceeded to business.

On August 29, Mr. Wood, who was Chief Secretary in the Wade Government, defied the Speaker and was removed amid a scene of violent disorder.
