NO-LICENSE MEETING.
HELD 13 Y WOMEN. A women's No-Licenso meeting was held in the Concert C'hnmber of the Town Hall last evening, llrs. Vf. Evans, M.A., presiding. Mrs. JJvans, in her introductory speech, spoko ot the power that was piaced in tlie hands nt women by giving them the vote, and said that it was their duty to use it. It was nothing less than a sacred duty, if it were only for tho sake of the children. There was no sacrifice in voting, and they should do it in such a way as would make tho world a better place. There were the wrecks of to-day to be considered. They were to be uplifted and helped on their way through tho world. Certainly there were women who had not asked for the vote, and had not. wished for it. but when responsibility was given them, it was their duty to rise to the occasion. Mrs. Blamires was called upon to speak, arid in doing so related to her audience sotuo of her experiences while doing mission work among the slums at Home. If, she stated, people eonld only pee the havoc wrought by drink, tho misery and wretchedness which it caused, they would nit hesitate to vote for NoT.ioensc. It crushed home life, and h-'-'ke the hearts of men, women, and ehi'drcn. 1 Sister Allan also spnko of the misery and degradation which she had come across in the course of her work, for, she stated, she was constantly ' coming into contact with its effects, and she annealed ti those present to vote atrainst license.
