The following communication has been • sent to Mr. Robert M'Nab by thellawke's ' Bay shareholders and directors of tho Mokau Company, all of whom are members of the Opposition One of these, Mr. M'Lean, was a member of the Opposition Parliamentary parly. They intimate that Mr. M'Nab may make what use he thinks fit of tho statement, which runs as follows:— "Although in politics we are supporters of the Reform party and are opposed to the policy of the presont Government, which you aro supporting, we cuter our iriost emphatic protest against the action of our party leaders and thoso who nr< supporting .them in the attitude thej have taken up in reference to the purchase of the Jlokau Estate by the Mokau Coal Company. Wo are shareholders in the company, some,of us aro directors, some of us sold tho'property to the company, nnd all arc intiinnloiy ncouaiuted with the circumstances connected with the purchase. Wc also know tho circumstances under which you wer« induced to take shares in the company, and, at our request, to become chairman. Not ono of those circumstances reflect in any way upon the action of the Government or upon yourself, aud, although the campaign of slander is Ijciug carried on by men of our own party and by pur own • party leader, in order to strike a blow at the Government and to koop you out of the public life of this country, our ideas of justice and fair play compel us [f. fell tho people of tlio Dominion fir what our statements oro worth that the charged made against yourself and the Government aro entirely untrue, and in > oui opinion aro a disgrace to parly tKilitics..
