Ideal weather prevails, and feverish efforts arc being made to finish (ho decorations, v Tho public excitement at the expected arrival of the King and Queen is unexampled in living memory. Portraits of their Majesties ore selling in the streets in hugo numbers. THEIR MAJESTIES WELCOM ED A STATELY PROCESSION. (Rec. December i, 0.35 a.m.) Bombay, December 3. Thera was brilliant sunshine and the harbour was full of decorated craft when tho Viceroy boarded the Medina and welcomed their Majesties. A hundred and ono guns Royal salute was fired in the harbour for the first time. Their Majeslanded in the afternoon under renewed salutes. The arrival happily coincided with the Mohammedan Festival of Bakrid. The gayest clothing was displayed at the reception by the Indian chiefs, landing officials, soldiers, clergy, and Judges, and the magnificent pavilion was superbly decorated with National flngs, including the Australian and New Zealand flags. Their Majesties, seated on golden thrones on the dais, canopied with royal blue, received the city's address. His Majesty replied that one of his first desires after the accession was to visit his Indian subjects. Afterwards there was a stately procession through the city, and their Majesties returned to the Medina. According to the Official Programme their Majesties were to land at the Opollo Bunder, Bombay, on Saturday, December 2. Presentation of Municipal Address. Procession through the fort and native city, with school children massed' at various points, followed by visit to Government Houfe. Tho streets decorated and illuminated at night.
