Training College Dane*. The annual breaking-up dance of tho students attending tho Teachers' Training College took place in the college last ovening, and was a most enjoyable event. Tho second-year students were, on this occasion, the guests of tho first-year ones, and tho entertainment took the form of a "social" and dance. Mr. Gray, the principal of tho college, received a presentation as a token of tho esteem in which ho was held, accompanied by hearty wishes for his future success. Obituary. The death took place on Thursday evening, at the Wellington Hospital, of Mrs. Frank Lewis, wife of Mr. Frank Lewis, and daughter of the lata Mr. John Allan Gordon, of Liverpool, England. The'deceased lady had Deen a resident of Wellington for 27 years, and had mado many friends.
Captain and Mrs. Thornton have taken Mr. J. Abbott's house at SilTcrstream. 1 Mrs. John Bidwill returned to the Lower Valley yesterday from a brief visit to Wellington. Mrs. Patrick Maclntyro leaves Wellington on Tuesday by the Paparoa for Dunedin, where she will remain for some time. Mrs. Willis (Rangitikei) is on a visit to Wellington. Mrs. Gillespie, who has been paying a brief- visit to Wellington, has returned to Feilding. Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Taylor left Wellington yesterday on a visit to Sydney. On. Tuesday morning at the Sncrcd Heart -Chinch, Hill Street, Hiss Kitty Hunt, of Ha\jera, was married to Mr.. Aloysius MadJonald, of this city. Nuptial ;Mass was said by the Rev. Father Hickson, who also performed, the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Herdman returned to Wellington yesterday from Dannevirke, where .Mr. Herdman gave a political address. They met with a most enthusiastic reception, a large number of peopio meeting theni on their arrival at the station, and when Mr. Herdman gave his address, tho hall was packed. Mrs. Herdman was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers at the beginning of the evening, and at tho end of the address Mr. Herdman was greeted with most 'hearty cheering. Tho day following they were motored all over the place, and received much hospitality from the Dannevirke people, a large number of them being present at the station on their departure for Wellington.
