Erasmus, who was formerly a law clerk at the Thames, lias been in South Africa for eight yearspast. He is over here on furlough, and intends to return to Johannesburg after spending a couple of months with relatives and friends at To Arena, Thames, and Auckland. Mr. Davidson, of tho London staff of the "Daily Mail," is to pay New Zealand a visit this month. Among-tho passengers to arrive from Homo by tho Corinthic yesterday wore Dr, H. O. Jones and Sirs. Moore, Brown, of London, arrived by the Corinthic yesterday on a health-recruiting mission. He intends to take a course of baths at Eotorua. Sir. T. P. AA'eston, of Slessrs. Izard and AA r cston, ie'.icitors, is lying ill at his Trentliam residence. Tho death is reported of Sir. AV, V. Tlio Anglican Bishop of Wellington (Dr. Sprolt) is to preach nt Cheltenham in Iho forenoon on December .1. In the afternoon ho will lay the foundation stone of a new Church nt Boaconsnold and in the evening ho will hold a confirmation service at Kiwiloa. Tho doctors all insist upon, his taking a prolonged rest, but hold out good hopes of his ultimate recovery. Dr. and Mrs. Wallis hope to take up their residence at Devizes early in tho coming year when tho former will commence the work of his Archdeaconry,
