Contrary to general expectation, the •wool sa,le to-day opened with great brjslness, keen competition taking place for offerings. This was the result of cable! advice of a 5 per cant, rise a.t the London s,alcs, apd buyers found their limits extended accordingly. A total of 12,224 bales ■was offered, the bulk of tlie wool being •really full quality, much heavier in the fleece th?n last, year's early sale. Prices obtained were:—Light halfbrcd. 9Jd.; brigat medium crossbred, iCd.; coarse crossbred. 9d.: rough and ■ uneven lots, 7*d.; . pieces and bellies, 6d. to 6Jd.
