All tho State Premiers regard the proposal for tho establishment of a Commonwealth Savings Bank with alarm, fearing that such a bank would practically abolish the State Banks, which are a, good source of revenue; DISCUSSION IN STATE ASSEMBLY. (Rec. November 30, 1.10 a.m.) Sydney, November 29. In tho State Assembly, during the discussion on tho Supply Bill, tho Federal Bank Bill was severely criticised. Mr. Waddell stated that sixteen millions of deposits were held by the State Government Savings Bank, of which thirteen millions were invested in Public Works. If they wero forced to disgorge to the Commonwealth it would create a serious complication.
