On Tuesday evening Miss Hurley, who for a number of years lias been connected with the local ladios' hockey club, and with social functions, was msule. tlio recipient of a handsome nreseiibation, the gift being from the officers.pf tho club, and its members. In making the. presentation, Mr. J.' 6. Stevens referred to Miss Hurley's services, regretted her departure, end wished,' her success. Ho trusted that fiho would return to Otaki at a future date. Jlr. St. George ■ responded on behalf of Miss Hurley. Miss Hurloy was also the j-ocipient of handsome presents from Hγ. Byron Browu, her late employer, and hef fellow employee*. While Mr, C. A, W. Mouekton was returning from Tikorea, on Tuesday evening, after addressing the electors there, a mishap occurred to his motor-car, necessitating a long and tedious walk, the party eventually reaching Foxton at 2.30 yesterday morning. The Rev. R. B. Blackmore, who has been indisposed, is now nble to resume work. Tho Levin Horticultural Society's show opened yesterday in fine wrathef. Tho a I-rouml display was excellent, the cut bloom class especially so. Mr. Frank J'enn, of Olaki, had all his own way in rose?, whilst with Mr. AVestaway secured severnl prizes in the swoot nea class. In the decorative ela.ss Mr. M'Bain and Mrs. were successful exhibitors.
