NOTES OX THE RACING. (By TelesraDU.-Suecia!' Corresoondent.l. ~„ , . Feilding, November 29, .though heavy rain icll early in the morning, the weather remained lino overhead for the first day's racing at Feilding. A high wind blew, however, and this was against an enjoyable day. The going was on the heavy side. Alter the Hurdle liace, which was won uy Keuiuac, a protest was.entered by the trainer or Longner;. alleging foul ridin" on tho part of i'oung. After consider"able evidence had been taken, however, the stewards decided to take, no actiou. lho betting was even in tho Plying Stakes. Jiaiigiatua, on the rails, was quickest to begin, and was followed bv Nyland, Bliss, and Master Sylvia, with tho others strung out. At the turn, tho position of the lenders were unchanged, but, onco in tho straight, Oliver s-cmt the top-weight ahead, and, although challenged by Bliss, ho stalled her oft', and won by two lengths; Rangiatua stopped badly over the last furlong. Patriotic ami Effort wero next to the placed division. The Trial Plate was contested by a poor field. It provided a good race, however, and somo of the youngsters' riding showed form worthy of older hands. Ngakau jumped out first, but was soon headed by Recipe and I'arkside, and this pair ran locked toj.eth.er nearly all the way. Over the last couple of chains the superior condition of Recipe stood to him, and he won by n couple of lengths. Agnkan was beaten off. Then followed Lord luleheran and Taonui. In the birdcage before the big race was run, Goldfinder and Avarice monopolised the attention of backers. The former looked on the big side, while Avarice, on the other hand, appeared to be light. At the start, Goldfinder jumped out best, but was steadied, and Sir Antrim led into the straight the first time under a bi» pml. Then Marton took charge, but th° pace was still a crawl. Going out of the straight, Avarice and Goldfinder improved their position-,. Down tbo back, Marton gave way ( 0 Epsom Lass, who was followed by Sir Antrim. As they swung into the straight tho -Trentham hone-, First Battery, took charge, and, nddoii right out, won by threo leupths with Epsom Lass a length ahead of Goldfinder. The remainder finished ir. •■ a straggling order. Reiimac was the favourite in the Onon Hurdles, and he won after a great sotto with Longner. Tho pace was made by Tyrannic, with Leolanter and Higjden next, and the other runjors well baci tlic fiVd being whipped by I?euirtuo and Highden. Going down the back the last time, Longner and Keumac moved up, and, at the second fence fror> home, were clear of the other*. Locked together in this way they ran the remainder of the journey, and, after a ■Asperate finish, Young just scored! Tho fact thai; lie was nn the insido assisted him greatly. Longner made his best showing for a long time, and Highden sfo'ps to be coming back to form. Koran, & noted mud performer, ivas the favourite in the Hiick Hurdles, with sev■n' "thers weil fancied. At the jnmp- <■■' Wnipaku (lashed out, followed by Piilcetotara. The latter soon jumped himself to the front, and, going down the he and Koran (h?\v away from tho field. Puketolnra held his own while there was jumping to be done, but,-at the finish, the. superior pace of Koran carried him |>ast his rival, and he won easily at tho finish. Waipaku was just ckar of Waipulere, who fiSshed very strongly, in fourth position. Cullinan was tailed ofr lho whole way. All calculations were rudely upset in the Feilding Stakes, when Nnumai got clean nway.-fronr the barrier with something liko r ais oW da.sh, and, never lct-

tins .the opposition get-alongside,-he won all out by a couple of lengths. Autumnus was unlucky, and appeared to meet with some trouble won after thu start. Sea Eagle was in second place as they raced across the bottom of (he course, but sho found the pace too hot, and retired. Ermongarde, who had been handy throughout, then enmo on. but had no chance with the winner. Vocation was a poor third, with Autumnus, who started a very warm favourite, in lourtli place. At one stage of tho betting on the Kiwitea. Welter Coromandvl appeared to'be tho only horse backed, but, towards the close, nearly all the others worn supported. It was a big field, but little trouble was given, and' nftor one ;'alsu start, they moved off well together. Oliver, on tho favourite, led from Floater, but, as they negotiated the fir-t ben,!, several horses ran very wide. Down the back, tho leaders were many lengths clear of Hie remainder with Kill and Jjrown Trout at tho head of the wcond division. Brown Trout finished very strongly, and headed Floater, though he hnd no chance of catching Coroniandel who won very comfortably. Another surprise was brought about in the Fitzroy Hack Flying, when the littlefancied Seraphic beat another outsider in fancied Seraphic beat another outsider in Taft by the narrowest of margins.
