The schemo':.of Chief Inspector- , Braik for the establishment of-school libraries '* b «ng taken up strongly in town, and tho Wangiinui- School Committeo is ar-rangins-plans-for- raising the funds to meet this end. The Wanganui East and tho town schools are going ahead with the scheme immediately, and others will follow as soon as finances can be arranged. The death occurred yesterday, at the ago of .74, of Mrs. J. N; Hoey, for over 30 years .head mistress ,of the Central Infants bchpol, Wanganui. Tho deceased, who retired from active work only four years ago,;was a native of Perth, Scot-' land, , and-camo-here from Victoria. Jt was she who , began the education-of almost all the present generation of Wauganuites nud many of their children, and, having exercised a splendid influence for good' on all who came under her care, her death will be. deplored bv a number outside this district and evervbody in it. . .
