A STRANGE EXPERIENCE.
■ » WILL-O'-THE-WISP. The "Waikato Argus" records that laet Wednesday night Mr. H. Atkins, of Maungatautari, had tho unique experience of being intiniatel}* connected with an electrical phenomenon popularly known as Will-o'-the-wisp or jack-o-Lantern, the fatuus- or fool's fire of the ancients. While riding home during a heavy rainstorm the horse's head and portions of Mio rider became .illuminated with gloving phosphorescent light?. The light resembled the light.? of many glow-worm:., but was less concentrating, and presented a weird appearance as the beating rain caused Hie illuminated drops to fall and fade in the darkness. The display lasted vrhilo the distance of half a miln was covered, mid was at ouo time so clear that the animal's lioad and bridle were plainly visible, and Mr. Atkins estimates that the glow could have been seen nt a distance of 200 yards. The horse became excited and restive.
