SATURDAY'S RACES. A good fresh breeze from the north prevailed on Saturday, which compelled .some of the yachts to reef. The Port Nicholson Yacht Club got off two races, one for first-class and one for second-class yachts. There was not a very large muster of yachts, but still the racing was safe factory. The outstanding feature of the races "was the excellent performance put up by the Siren, she being handled splendidly throughout her race. The secondclass race resulted in an excellent finish, 45 seconds only separating the first and second yachts. FIRST-CLASS YACHTS. Siren 1 Windward 2 Mahina 3 The yachts left the starting, line as follow:—Siren, 3h. 27min.; .Manilla, 3h. 27iniu.; Windward, 3h. 23min.; Tangaroa, 3h. lilniin.; Nancy Stair, 3h. I'imin. The dolphin buoy in Evans Bay was rounded in the following order:—Nancy Stair, Windward, Tangaroa. Siren, and Mahina. On the run (o Falcon Shoal buoy, the Windward gained first position, and the Siren came up to second place, while Iho Tangaroa dropped back in the rear. The Nancy Stair followed the Siren, with the Mahina next. After rounding the Falcon buoy the Siren gradually worked up to first position, with the Windward'second and the Mahina third, and these positions were maintained to the finish. The finishing times were as follow:— Siren (20min.), sh. 20min. SOaec; Windward (24min.), 51i. 22min. ssec; Mahina' (20min.), sh. -iniin. 15-cc; Nancy Stair (32min.), sh. .15min.. lOsec; Tangaroa (28min.), sh. Smin. 30scc. The Tender started at 3 p.m.. followed bv Ihe .Maui at.'lhr. ISniin., Manubi 3hr. 29min. ; Toanui 3hr. 37min., Naomi lIT 3hr. 42min., and Scotia. 3hr. 44min. The Tender, with her eimrmou.s time allowance, had no difficulty in carrying off the prize.

HERETAUNGA BOATING CLUB. The Heretaunga Boating Club got off three races on Saturday afternoon. The first race was for launches, only two competing, viz.: Mayflower and Sunbeam, and resulted in a win for Mavli.iw-u'. In tho'loft. class there were'-mlv three contestants, namely, Spray (Omiu.ij Tom' Wilfard (4min.), and Ruby 'scr.). A fine race between the last-name dtwo resulted in Tom Wilford winning by 49ser. The 14ft. class was a little netlcr ccntcsled, there being five competitors, (ley being: AVai-iti (7min.), Gil Bias (imiii.), Hinau (scr.), Buna (scr.). and Marguerita (scr.). This was also a hard-fought race, which resulted in the Buna winning from Marguerita by the small mai','in cf l;ec.
