' THE POSITION IN TARANAKI. An unusually bad spell of weather has been Taranakf's portion of late. During the past week one hour has seen a hot sun blazing forth, and the next rain and hail, worth;- of winter's worst. Tarm work has been practically at a standstill, and the supplies of milk have generally been smaller than last year, although the monetary return has been about the same on account of the higher prices ruling. About Tariki, several instances are reported of maize seed having apparently rotted in tho ground through the continuous rain.
