Genial rains and warm wonther have been responsible for a recovery in the production of bnttor iu the Auckland province. A Into start was made in the oxport of butter at the commencement of the season owing in tho dry weather, conditious, and about a month ago a setback to tho industry was experienced through a cold snap following on several days''heavy rain. On November 'J, (i 1,181 boxes had'been exported for this season, :is against (11.037 boxes for the corresponding poiiod of last season, leaving a doiiciency for this season of 2GM boxes. The welcome fact is now demonstrated that the shipments of butter to bo exported this week will constitnte a record for a fortnight's exports ami will not only make up the deficiency indicated, but will leave a balance in favour of the present season of over 50 bosr-s. This week s shipment for the Home market will consist of 21,180 boxes to be taken by (lie Athcnie which leaves Auckland for London via Wellington on Saturday. Vancouver is becoming a popular market for Now Zealand, butter, and the exports to tho Canadian port are on the increase. About 31150 boxes of butter will be shipped by the Jlakura for Vancouver. There is also a steady demand for New. Zealand butter at the 'Islands, and tho Navua is taking about 2iO boxes. Tho combined exports for London, Vancouver, and the Islands total 25,07S boxes. This easily forms a record for a fortnight's exerts of butter from the Auckland province. Tho previous record was the last two weeks of December of last year, when the total of 21,811 boxes was taken to London by the steamer Taiuui. A margin is thus loft in favour of the past fortnight of 73i boxes. For this year the export of butter reaches a total'of 59.936 boxes, bein" oG in excess of the quantity exported up to this timo last year. To date cheese shows an advance, 352 more crates having been exported than at this date last vear.
