TRADE SCHOLARSHIPS.
CALLENDAR MEMORIAL TEUST. Tho rules drafted by Iho Public Trustee in connection with the administration of the Callendar 'Memorial Scholarship Fund for students at Technical Schools were .submitted to the Wellington Technical School Board at. its meeting last evening. These provided for. scholarships of £o each tenable for one year, thirty of whicli may to allotted in Dunedin'and a like number for tho Wellington school. Tho scholarships are to bo offered for competition among trade apprentices in their first year at both schools, regarding their respective institutions, the director of each school is to determine whether any candidate has qualified for a scholarship and the winner is to pnrol for the year nest suefeeding that during which ho has held it. Candidates are to be examined (1) a's to general knowledge and intelligence, and (2) as to their work in classes at tho Technical School. Referring to tho rules Mr. W. S. La Trobe (tho director) recommended (hat February 1C should be tho dato on which entries for the. initial competition should close and that scholarships should bo competed for in the same month. Scholarships should be awarded as follow to tho various trades:—Plumbinir, 3; carpentry and joinery. 1; cabinet-work and wood-carving, 1; plastering, 1; domestic economy, 3; painting and decorating, 1; mechanical enirimvnng, 2; electrical engineering, 2; building construction and architecture, 1. The rules and suggestions were adopted.
