COURTENAY PLACE STOPPING PLACH.
NEW WAITING-HOUSE NEEDED.
The report of the City Engineer rocpnu mending the erection of a now waitinghouse at tho Courtouay Placo east (mix ways stopping-place has given general f.\U isfaction to tlio many thousands who make that snot their alighting and dopnrting point. While it is easily tue liveliest stopping-place in tho system, it is about tho Weakest ami least sheltered of the many stopping-places in tbo city. It is fully exposed to the northerly winds that sweep unchecked from tho harbour and also laces (ho south. The present' little shed is of very little service at all, and most of those who have occasion to wail for tho ear? do so under the verandahs of the adjacent shops in preference: lo the official voiting-shed. 'Hie proposal to make a path through the n> BPi've has been received with satisfaction by tho business people of the north side of Cmirtenay Place. Since the electrio tramways have developed the euslejii mil* urbs and the last stopping-place on Iha flat has become such a busy spot:, the traffic has tended to diverge from Ilia north to tho south side, aud tho plantation in the centre of the thoroughfanj has helped still further to that end. With a broad natli through tho centre of the reserve tho position will bo much improved and would bo oven mow h> if tho City Engineer would persuade the council to wood-block that rectangular bit of roadway ou the north sido of "ho reserve.
