TABLE LINEN.

Some good ideas have recently been introduced with regard to table linen, and the supper cloth i.s now used at allmoals except dinner isays a writer in a Sydney paper). This, cloth does not overhang the table, by more than an inch or two, and not being a very big affair is often made beautiful by reason of crochet insertion- and lace., or any of tho many beautiful .varieties of peasant embroidery. A very attractive, supper cloth has. tho four corners embroidered in blue, red, and black cross stitch embroidery, done in ingrain cottons. A hem etitched border outlined the whole. Another set of-sup-per cloths had the popular scalloped edge outlined with blue, cotton. t A small conventional design worked in white satin stitch at the corners also were outlined with the blue cotton. In some cases blue and white checked linen is used for these cloths, but the best looking ones are white, colour being introduced only in the form of embroidery. A very: goodlooking cloth is oblong and narrow, overhanging the table only at the bides. This gives a u opportunity for the display or good hand work, and much excellent crochet, liuen work is being used in connection with these cloths.
