(Before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M.) THE BRICE OFFENCES. AND WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday Bobcrfc Reginald Brice appeared for sentence oil seven charges of i'llso pretences and ono of tliet't. He had pleaded guilty to all of these last week. Mr. P. \V. Jackson appeared for him. Chief-Detective iiroberg pointed out that the Supreme Court had sentenced Brice to one year's detention on Rotarca Island respecting two charges of forgery whicli bad been heard before the magistrate at the tamo time as Hie other chargcs. In passing that sentence the Judge luid expressed a hope that the maffi.str.ite would not impose any further sentence. His Worship accordingly convicted Bvice, am! ordered him to appear fur sente::cc: when called on. Ho also directed him to make restoration iu resl>ect In the property which lie had wrongfully obtained. . TIIE LAD TO EXPLAIN. Alfred Arthur Henderson, aged 17, was charged with having broken and entered tlie dwelling of William Alexander Nicholson, and stoien therefrom goods to iho value of 30s. belonging to the said Alexander Nicholson, and the sum of 3Us. belonging to Frederick Tarr. Accused was remanded till November 23. ball beioiK allowed.
UAxmvicK, N.s.vr., case. James Connelly, alias John Baxter, was charged with having, id Ramlwirk, Xuw South Wales, on Oclolkt I, conspired with Robert Hall to cheal and defraud Thomas Atkinson M'Jlonald of .1.5. A remand till November 23 was made, and bail was granted. INSOBRIETY. On charges of insobrietv Michael Kielv was remanded for curative treatment, and Ralph Smith was lined 10s.
