HOT TIMES.
HIGH TEMPERATURES IN NEW SOUTH WALES. Sundry cablo massages- received during tho past week from Australia comment upon tho heat and tho imminence of drought conditions in certain districts. To give a close idea of what extraordinary temperatures aro being experienced in parts of New South Wales, we give the following extract from tho ordinary weather report published ill the "Sydney Morning Herald" 011 Saturday last:— "Hot and sultry conditions continued over tho northern and eastern districts on Thursday, but cooler weather prevailed in tho far west and southern districts. Temperatures were also lower in Centril Australia (from It to 15 degrees), duo to the cooling effects of the southerly wind. In the northern districts the highest iemperaturo for the present vear was recorded, viz., 113 degrees at Mogil. This is the highest reading since December of last year, when tho same station registered 117 degrees. Other high loadings were:—Moreo and Pilligu 108 degrees, Collaronebri and Brewarrina 107, Quambono ?,r 1 Mumnndi 10G, Bourlce, Maitland, ,V N! ! I ' rab K,i, nn( l Coonainblo each 10a, Wellington.
