t-: frCOOL STORAGE SITE. Tho desirability or otherwise of selecting a site ou the reclaimed land near tha Glasgow Wharf for tho erection of a shed for tho cool storage of dain; produce was considered bv tho Wellington Harbour Board la&t nigut. The construction of stores as suggested in the motion would seriously affect the value of tho company's property op Waterloo Quay, which was built on land leased from the board. Mr. Ilarlniess moved:—

"That the engineer ho instructed to select, 011 the reclaimed ground, a suitablo site for the erection of a building for freezing and storago of dairy produce, tho sito to bo chosen adjacent to the Glasgow Wharf with a view to the economical and efficient handling of such produce railed or borno coastwise; that plans, together with an estimate of the jirohablo cost., foe prepared of a building for tlin above purpose in a design that will permit of tho immediate construction of tho cheese room in tiino for tho season 1912-1913, and submitted for the consideration of the board and, if Approved, ineirnhnl with !lie proposed annual works to bo undertaken dur; ing 1912, the further construction of tho complete plan to bo deferred until such time as may be deemed necessary to finish it." In submitting this motion he said that tho difficulty had hitherto been about a site, because it .vis necessary that it should be near t'ic Glasgow \\ liarf, and it was not certain how much of tlio reclamation the Government proposed to take. It lud also boon thought that it was not wise to interfere with tho rights of a ccrlnin company, lie did not wish this to be done now, but ho asked the board to do something which the conipanv could not do—to make provision for 'the storage of dairy produce. Tho cost would not bo moro than i-'MOO or JC3OOO. j Tho chairman seconded the motion, and, after a somewhat lengthy discussion it was carried, Messrs. Jones and l!en» nor dissenting.
