(From Our Social Correspondents.) 0FEILDING. Mr. E. Short is shipping his splendid draught mare, Miss Ivanhoe, to Dunedin tu compoto for tlio show championship against tho renowned southern mares. Mr. ,T. M. If. Lockhead has disposed of his business in Kimbolton Road, and has taken a farm ill the Hawera district. Mr. Lockhead is one of FeildingV best-known bowlers, and has also frequently officiated as a judge of dancing at Highland gatherings. OTAKI. The Catholic bazaar, which had a vory successful run for soveral . days, was brought to a close on Monday night by a dance. There wero a largo number present. FEATHERSTON. For the construction of tho Coronation Swimming Baths here, the fcendor of Mr. W. D. IFCalmont at J5287 has beeD accepted by (he Town Board. The name of tho man drowned at Lake Ferrv on Sunday was George Gunning, not Dunning as published on Monday. Early on Tuesday morning a hayshed and stable usedby a frainor named John Mathews. .it South Featherston, were totally destroyed by fire. Two racelionjjstep and Longwood, were rescued just in time. Some bridles and saddles were burned.
