H.M.S. ENCOUNTER AT LYTTELTON.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.l Ghrlstchurch, November 20. H.M.S. Encounter arrived off the Hea'.U from Sydney this morning. She anchored for torpedo practice, and.is expected in port on Tuesday, MAPOURIKA STILL AT GREYMOUTH. Advices received by the Union Company from Greymouth in regard to the weather there yc.slerday were not reassuring. A heavy sea was on the bar, and there was a strong "fresh" in the river. There were 110 shipping movements all day, and the Mapourika was still detained inside. It was hoped, however, to, dispatch her for Westport and Wellington last night, but, up till a late hour, there was no word of her having left. INDRALEMA ARRIVES HOME, Messrs. Bannatj'ne and Co., local agents for the Tysor Line, have received advice which states that the Indralema arrived at London on November 16. Slio left the Bluff on September 28, and made the voyage in 49 days. DELPHIC REPORTED. Cable advice received by the local agents for the Shaw, Savill, and Albion 00. states that the Delphic left Cape Town on Friday last. The vessel is en route from London to Wellington, via Auckland, and should arrive hero about December 20. RUAHINE'LEAVES CAPE TOWN. Information received by the local agenta for the New Zealand Shipping Co. is to the effect that R.M.S. Ruahino left Cape Town on Saturday for Hobart and Wellington. The vcfwci, which is coming from London, is due here about December 12.

A cablegram received at LyUelton from London announced that the barque Don had sailed for Lyttelton. Inquiries elicited the information that the barque hau sailed from Gellc, Sweden, with a full.cargo of Bait it: pine for Dunedin and LyUelton. The Don is no stranger to Lyttelton, as !>hc was in that port for several months in 1902, and loaded there for London. 'llie vessel was then under the British Hag, but like many more of her class, has since passed in the hands of foreign owners, and now flies the Norwegian tiag. The Don will make Dunedin her first port of call, half of her cargo being for discharge there, and she is due early in March next year. Captain Jensen is master of the. Don. The B.M.S. Turakina, which left Wellington for Londou on Saturday,-took the i following cargo from this port:—l679-bales hemp, 160 bales tow, 2345 bales wool, 213 casks tallow, 13,749 boxes butter, 14,364 crates cheese, 56 dumps sheepskins, 24 bales basils, 77 casks pelts, 268 casks shell, 350 caste shell, 1661 carcasses mutton and lamb, 2 casks casings, 853 legs mutt-on, 484 tins milk, 24 packages general cargo, bags shoulders muttou. For Monte Video—lo live rams, 22 packages general cargo. Following the Vacuum Oil Company's steamer Falls of Orchy, the chartered steamer Terrier is to leave New York for Auckland, Wellington, Lytteltou, and Dunedin with a cargo of case oil. The sailing date is not yet annouueed.

When she has completed discharge o! her coal cargo at Wellington, the llakanoa | will sail for Ivaipara. From the latter j port she proceeds to Melbourne and Sydney with timber. To-morrow evening the Waitemata is to leave Timartt for Wellington direct with general cn.rgo. She also brings 5C09 crates of cheese for transhipment to the Athenic. Afterwards the vessel proceeds to Gisborno and Auckland. At 9 p.m. on Sunday the Arahura arrived at Wcstport from Wellington, via way ports. She left again for Greymouth at 9 a.m. yesterday. Owing to bad weather at Greymouth sho was unable to enter that port. An arrival in port from Picton on Thursday will bo the Shaw, Savill steamer Kia Ora. She sails for London direct on Saturday. There are 168 ealoon and 153 steerage passengers coming to Wellington by the Union Company's steamer Manuka tomorrow. The vessel has a line of 17,750 packages of dried fmits on board. These are ex steamer Berlin. Mr. V. G. Webb, chief officer of the Poherua, came ashore for orders yesterday. Mr. Woder, late second oiheer of the Makura, has joined the Poherua as chief. Mr. J. Watson, fourth engineer of the Mokoia, left the vessel at Wellington yesterday. Mr. C. W. Crool, signed on as third engineer. Mr. C. Dahl joined the Kiripaka as mate yesterday, Nerehana, Tyser boat,' is due in port from Napier on Thursday. Sho sails for Londou on Friday evening. To-day the auxiliary ketch Jane will leave Wellington for the Sounds. The little vessel brought a load of timber from Pakawai. She is in chargo of Captain T. Green. The Now Zealand Shipping Co.'s steamer Rjinutaka i.i due here from Napier to-mor-row. She leaves on Friday for Lvttelton and London, and takes her departure from the southern port on Sunday.
