MR. CAMPBELL AT HASTINGS. ißy Telccra-pb. -Speual Correspondent.* Hastings, November 20. On Friday evening, Mr. li. W. Campbell, t;ie Reform candidal, gave another political address in the Princess Theatre; Since his initial speech a few weeks back Mr. Campbell lias improved preatly as a platform hand, and 011 Friday lie made "a capital effort. He vigorously criticised the Government administration, and altogether created an excellent impression. ' There was a large audience, the building beinß (axed to its utmost capacity, and the speaker received a sood hearing. Locally, it is considered almost certain that Mr. Campbell will bo in the second ballot, the only point being who will lie his opponent in the ultimate contest. To-day Mr. Campbell left for another tour in tho Wairoa portion of the el-ctorate. The'other candidates, Messrs. A. L. 1). Feasor, G. !>. Claphani, If. Lan Simson, anil Eustace Lane, are all busy campaigning iu various parts of tho cicetorate.

Alack, Labour candidal? for Parnell, bail retired in favour ot Sil' John I'indla}, Mr. Mack was seen by a "Herald" reporter oil the subject, and gave the rumour a flat denial. "There is absolutely no truth whatever in it," he declared. "Probably the wish is father to the thought. lam not going to resign in favour of any candidate, nor have I been approached by anyono to stand down."
