Midnight Sun, Cheddar, and Royal Scotoh are to bo raced at Woodville, and the two with Mrs. Wiggs and Ireland will afterwards bo taken on to Ellerslie in charge of T. F. Quinlivan, jun. The South Canterbury Jockey Club's mooting opens ou Wednesday next. I An interesting schooling gallop over fences was performed at Wanganui on Saturday morning, between three aspirants for honours in hack hurdle events. The contestants were Seawind, Brilliancy, and Royal Patron. The first-named gavo a splendid display and finished in front of Brilliaucy. who also jumped well, whilo Royal Patron was tailed off. Seawind is a very fast jumper, and should soon win a race. Brilliancy also jumped well, while his paco on the flat enabled hiiu to run up to Seawind between the fences. He was ridden by F.'Lind, who is quito recovered from the serious accident ho met with at Avondalo in September. Miscount and Domino are well supported locally for tho Auckland Cup. The stallion Roosevelt recently got his foot under an iron fence, and at present ho is on the easy list. Kingswell is reported to have come on a.Jot since racing at Trcntham, and this unlucky horse may soon win a race for his new owner. After returning from Riccarton, where ho was unsuccessful in his only start. Boanerges was put into the paddock, and his trainer intends to treat him to a good spell. Jas>. Hathaway is working at Awapnni a very fine-looking filly by Advance. The youngster is named Lady Ruby, and will bo given a run in the Scurry at Feildinjj. Owners and trainers are reminded that nominations for all first-day events of the Reefton Jockey Club's meeting close on November 27.
