THE KANJO MURDER.
OFFICIAL EXPLANATION, Uy Telegraph—Press Acsocta-tlon-CopyrlEhi London, November 17. The Colonial Office has been informed that more than one white witnessed the deliberate, unprovoked murder of the Rev. A. Douglas at Kanjo, by a Portuguese official, who has been arrested. The mattor is now in the hands of Siv Edward Grey, Secretary of Stato fr.r Foreign Affairs. (Rec. November 20, 1.5 a.m.) Lisbon, November 19. The official version of tho Kanjo affair declares that the missionaries had previously provoked a conflict, necessitating the seizure of arms. These wore forcibly recaptured by missionaries and ' natives from Likomn, but at the instance of tho postmaster at Ivanjo the weapons were returned. Later tho missionaries again landed, and the postmaster, fearing another attack, summoned the party to stop. On a refusal, he fired, killing a member of the mission.
