Sir Joseph Ward is at Christcbureh, the Hon. D. Buddo nt Rangiora, Sir .Tames Carroll at Gisborno, Sir John Findlay at Auckland, tho Hon. R. M'Kenzio at Takaka (Nelson), tho Hon. T. Mackenzie at Otakeho (Taranaki), and the Hon. A. I'. Ngata at Port Aivanui. Mr. J. J. Tainc, formerly proprietor of TaTne's wharf, Wellington, and one of the early pioneers who came from England by the ship Adelaide, in 1810, is visitins? Wellington after a long stay with' relatives in Auckland. Although a nonagenarian, Mr. Taine is still hale and hearty, and was seen taking a brisk walk along Salamanca Road on Saturday afternoon. Mr. Frank Bolt, of Wellington, who has been appointed district manager for the Government Lifo Insurance Department, received a presentation from the officers of tho Wellington District branch and travelling agents on Friday. Tho presentation was made by Mr. George Kobortson, supervisor of new business. Tho Hon. J. A. Millar, Minister for Railways, returned io Wellington on Sat urday morning from tho south, and spent tho day in transacting urgent Departmental" business. He left again in tho evening for Christchurch, where he is to attend a meeting of tho Executive Council to-day. He will also attend todny the ceremony of laying tho foundation stone of the now Christchurch Departmental buildings. Tho Prime Minister is to perform tho ceremony. Tomorrow (Tuesday), forenoon, Mr. Millar will lay tlie foundation stone of the first of tho workers' dwellings to be erected under tho provisions of the Workers' Dwellings Act of last session. Tho Minister is to return to Duncdin by tho second express ou Tuesday. The Hon. J. E. Jo,nkinson, M.L.C., returned from the south yesterday morning by I lie Maori. Tho death occurred yesterday at midday, at her residence, llawkestone Street, of Mrs. Mahoney, formerly of the West Coast.
